PSeInt and Scratch

PSeInt

PSeInt  is a tool to help students in their first steps in structured programming. It uses a pseudolanguage in Spanish (complemented with a flowchart editor), which allows attention to be focused on the fundamental concepts of computational algorithms, minimizing the difficulties inherent to a language such as learning a code and a specific syntax and providing a work environment with numerous teaching aids and resources.

PSeInt is multiplatform free software, so it is accessible to the entire educational community regardless of its economic capacity and the type of Operating System they use.

It is a tool halfway between block programming, in which the syntax and structure are completely blurred, and learning a specific programming language with the difficulty and degree of specificity that this entails.

The latest version is from May 2023, so its creators update it regularly. On the page http://pseint.sourceforge.net/ you can find, apart from the download links, abundant documentation on its functionalities and other information of interest.

Scratch

Scratch is both a programming language with a simple interface that allows young people to create digital stories, games and animations using block programming, and it is also the largest programming community for boys and girls in the world. Scratch is designed, developed and moderated by the Scratch Foundation, a non-profit organization, which offers it openly and free in more than 70 languages.

Scratch has been developed specifically for young people between 8 and 16 years old, although people of any age can participate in the project.

An online version of the tool is available on its website, accessible without the need for any type of registration. We will use the offline tool to avoid distractions.

Likewise, Scratch is multi-platform free software, thus guaranteeing its universal accessibility.
